Pauline Maes
Scientific collaborator / Collaboratrice scientifique
Pauline is a postdoctoral researcher at CARE at Boston University and a scientific collaborator within the ACTE project. She is interested in early language abilities in autism, and especially in the communicative and linguistic abilities of autistic children with minimal verbal skills.
She completed her PhD at ACTE where she studied social attention and early expressive language in young minimally verbal autistic children using eye-tracking and experimental linguistics methods. She then spent a year working as a postdoctoral researcher on the BeLAS project, a large national and longitudinal project of linguistic trajectories in 3- to 7-year-old autistic children. In 2023, Pauline joined Boston University for a 3-year postdoctoral project but remains involved in ACTE's projects as a scientific collaborator.
At Boston University, she plans to investigate echolalia in autism using fNIRS and developmental psycholinguistic approaches.
